Apply for a room in our student dorm in Munich

An active community and an affordable room near the university

We understand the dramatic housing shortage in Munich: on average, we have 100 applicants per semester for 10 places. You can probably imagine, that such a number of application forms represents an enormous time commitment for the members of the admissions committee, who work on a voluntary basis.

Before you apply, we ask you to carefully check that you meet our admission criteria.

Our application deadlines run from October 1st to January 15th and April 1st to June 15th for the following summer and winter semester, respectively.
Applications after these deadlines are still possible, but will be considered less favorably in case of doubt. You should therefore apply in good time!

What are the criteria?

In order to ensure the fairest possible distribution of student dorm places, students cannot be considered, who

have their residence within the area of the Munich U-Bahn or S-Bahn
are already in an advanced semester
are older than the birth year 1999
have already lived in a Munich student dorm
are not enrolled at one of the following Munich universities: Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), Technical University of Munich (TUM), Munich University of Applied Sciences, University of Music and Theatre, Academy of Fine Arts, School of Philosophy, University of Television and Film, Katholische Stiftungshochschule München
(it's enough, if you are enrolled when you move in).

What do I need for an application?

Application form

It is important to fill out the application form carefully and completely. Please take enough time for it. It is worth it! Here you also have the option to submit your photo, resume, and references as a single pdf document. Please note that applications without a photo and a complete resume cannot be processed. We only accept online applications through our student dorm's application form.

Formulated curriculum vitae

We need a short (approx. 1 page), well-written CV from you, in order to get an idea of who you are. We are less interested in your grades. However, it is important for us, that you tell us something about yourself and your motivation to move into our student dorm.

Some suggestions would be:

Leisure activities & hobbies
Social commitment
Studies & career plans
Family environment

Photo

You don't have to run to the photographer. Whether it's a passport photo or a snapshot is secondary for us. The important thing is, that the photo is up-to-date, and you are clearly recognizable.

Reference letters

Letters of reference are always welcome and a great advantage. They help us to learn more about you and your social commitment.

How is it decided who gets to move in?

Our student dorm is different from the dormitories of the Studentenwerk: we care about who moves in here! This is why we have developed an elaborate application process. Each application received is reviewed by our admissions committee. This committee is made up of 6 to 8 students, the board of Willi Graf e.V., and the administration. Who will be allowed to move in or who will receive a place on the waiting list will then be decided by the admissions committee with the greatest possible consensus, approximately 1 to 2 weeks after the end of the application period.

When will I find out if I will get a room?

Our application deadlines run from October 1st to January 15th and April 1st to June 15th for the following summer and winter semester, respectively. As a rule, you will receive your acceptance or rejection by e-mail, approximately two weeks after these deadlines. Please refrain from further inquiries until then.
Applications after these deadlines are still possible, but will be considered less favorably in case of doubt. You should therefore apply in good time!

We only accept online applications through our student dorm's application form. If you have difficulty submitting the form, please do not hesitate to report a problem or contact our network administrators.
